JESSICA LAWDAN
Jessica Lawdan is just trying to figure it out. She has done so through many roles, from reformed 2000s emo alt-rocker, to ex-choir kid and musical theatre geek, to a wannabe jazz singer, to short-time stint as a French chanteuse, to present day Colorado folk songwriter, she carries a lot of experiences and styles with her to try in the hopes of telling a story that's still actively being written. Her vocals blend classical training with pop-inspired hooks, paired with lyrics that rely heavily on honesty and sentimentality to draw listeners in. Her songs are for anyone who needs to hear that it's okay to mess up, fall in love, ruin everything, find themselves amongst the wreckage, and know that they are still whole and beautiful. There's usually a lot of ukulele and self-deprecating humor involved, but she hopes you'll be okay with that and listen anyways.
In addition to songwriter and performing, Jessica is also a full-time music educator with strong beliefs of social-justice and equity through music. She has been featured on 9News Denver and Colorado Public Radio for her work in creating culturally responsive units of study and working with the next generation of music-makers to become self-driven, engaged, kind human beings.
